In No Great Hurry - 13 Lessons in Life with Saul Leiter [Trailer]
Will be screening for certain!
I have to give credit where credit is due,” Fincher tells EW. “We knew we needed a moment of levity. I said, ‘He should walk over and turn on music, because he doesn’t like to kill, he doesn’t like to hear the screams, without hearing his favorite music.’ And Daniel Craig hopped up and picked up his iPod and scrolled through it and said, ‘Here it is.’ And we all almost pissed ourselves, we were laughing so hard. No, actually, it’s worse than that. He said, ‘Orinoco Flow!’ Everybody looked at each other, like, what is he talking about? And he said, ‘You know, “Sail away, sail away…”’ And I thought, this guy is going to make Blomkvist as metro as we need.
Oh look! It’s the trailer for Erik Khoo’s film on the work and life of 辰巳 ヨシヒロ [Yoshihiro Tatsumi.]
It’s true That I Love Terence Malick.
More Denis Lavant - this time his dance at the end of Claire Denis’ superb Beau Travail.
But also…
One of my cinema heroes: Denis Lavant
The original film that inspired Charles and Ray Eames’ Powers of Ten. Well worth checking out both for comparison and as a work in it’s own right.
Roll Call…
Trailer for the new Kickstart funded William S. Burroughs Doc by Yony Leyser. There are some Typographic crimes being committed here in the lower third but what can you do but let it slide. It’s Bill Burroughs and Leyser has brought together an impressive posse of people to talk about the man-I’m there…
Check out Malcolm Murrays’ short doc on NYC mural painters, UP THERE. Straight up: Beautiful, Beautiful stuff.
I’ve been keeping an eye on Alex Roman as he’s been releasing footage of this work over the past months. If you haven’t viewed The Third & The Seventh yet, please, treat yourself to this beautiful, compelling CGI short film that uses the architectural spaces of Kahn, Calatrava and others as source material for his own unique vision. I don’t know how much it cost him to produce it but I’d definitely be interested in knowing how many of these he could have made for the amount Mr. Cameron spent on his most recent effort. I’ll take more Roman less Cameron, please. Full screen is best!
